Fred. Olsen Renewables celebrates CFD success
Leading independent renewable energy generator, Fred. Olsen Renewables, has welcomed the news that two UK projects have secured a CfD as part of the UK Government’s sixth renewable energy auction.
The successful projects are Crystal Rig IV and Windy Standard III. Combined these projects will provide a significant contribution towards the UK Government’s net zero ambitions and deliver around £20m in community benefits.
Crystal Rig IV in the Lammermuir Hills has started construction. Comprising 11 turbines and delivering 49.1MW, the wind farm is expected to become operational in early 2026. Windy Standard III is located in Dumfries and Galloway and is a consented extension to Windy Standard Wind Farm.
Collectively, the projects have the potential to supply enough clean electricity to meet the needs of over 100,000 UK homes once operational.
Sofie Jebsen, Chief Executive Officer of Fred. Olsen Renewables commented:
“This is fantastic news and a key milestone in advancing the development of these pivotal projects towards their successful delivery.
We look forward to continuing our efforts in supporting the UK Government on its journey towards net zero.”
