Fred. Olsen Renewables joins line up of finalists at Scottish Green Energy Awards

A collaborative project between Fred. Olsen Renewables, SSE Renewables and East Lammermuir Community Council has been shortlisted for the Best Engagement Awards at the Scottish Green Energy Awards 2024. The accolade acknowledges the partnership approach taken to community engagement in East Lammermuir.

The Best Engagement Award recognises exemplary community, or stakeholder engagement before, during or after the development of a renewable energy project. The joint entry from Fred. Olsen Renewables, SSE Renewables and East Lammermuir Community Council celebrates the creation of a pioneering set of engagement measures set to tackle the complex engagement challenges being faced by the local community in East Lammermuir.

In response to community concerns, Fred. Olsen Renewables and SSE Renewables, in partnership with local stakeholders, devised the Principles of Community Engagement to support effective engagement. In addition to the Principles a dedicated web portal was launched, which included an interactive layered map – providing a clear overview of all proposed/operational energy developments in East Lammermuir.

Finley Becks-Phelps, UK Development Director at Fred. Olsen Renewables, commented:

“We are really pleased to be a part of this collaborative project and for it to be recognised for its unique approach to engagement locally. The work that has been undertaken has demonstrated the value of true partnership working between all stakeholders.

“I wish all of the finalists the best of luck for the evening and look forward to celebrating everyone's success in December.”
